Komikon Aftermath...and some grunts =P

Thu Dec 11, 2008, 10:33 PM
  • Mood: Artistic
  • Reading: Random Indies, old comics
  • Watching: The Day the Earth Stand Still
  • Eating: Fried Noodles
  • Drinking: Diet Coke
And here I am, front of a PC on the 7th floor stuck to create a new journal. Hence, I was suppose to upload my new artworks with the damn OT! I just caught myself on heavy traffic and rain! Really pisses me off, so I'm trying to get a relief here and to do sumthing COOL at least by this recent journal.

Back on the real world, just want to say how proud that I survived :iconkomikon: KOMIKON 2008. :iconkomikon: ( yeah, yeah.. it almost a month but who cares, ITS BETTER LATE THAN NEVER =P )

It started with a planned with with my other colleues that I have plan going to a bid comic festivity showcasing local talents. That is the 4th KOMIKON CONVENTION at U.P. Bahay ng Alumni! Crap! it was a month long palne but all of the sudden, my "very" gud friends namely Louie and Dior :icondioremi: backoff. ( F#^KOFF!, I was going BYSELF!)

Anyway, with their considrate instructions, because im very bad on directions, I was off to go to U.P. and off with MY plan. So ther was I with VERY long journey from Laguna going to Philcoa riding in rusty local bus for two hours!

Its all worthy when atlast after the long trafic I already reached U.P! Gosh! the line is pretty long at front of the event where seems that the weather starts to shed rain!

The organizers did well giving out flyers, participant's portfolio (A folder consists of the ff: Komikon Fan's fan-where they can have the artists' their signatures, Friendster stuffs, Random Alamat comic) and tickets for the paticipants.

I'm all set to grab all the comics I saw on every booth! Set myself to have the chance for my personal comics signed by their respectve creators!

First stop is at the KOMIKERO booth with the ever pleasing Mr. Gerry Alanguilan! :icontagasanpablo: Have the chance to grab the 4th and last book of ELMER and my 3 first installment signed and special edition of STONE!

Next is the :iconbayanknights: Bayan Knight/Sacred Mountain booth, headed by Mr. Gilbert Monsanto :icongammaknight: with his wife, and the other BK Creators, selling the much awaited BAYAN KNIGHT issue 1 and Rambol issue#3. The oppopste table is Nerp Pedrina:iconnerp: creator of SANDUGO, grabbed the 3 issues of his work plus free trading cards =P

I'm really agog to see again the :iconmangaholix: Mangaholix booth to grab Issue#7 but Kevin Libranda:iconkevintut: and Brian Veleza:icontotmoartsstudio2: are the only artist present who can sign my copy. Well, good thing I have the chance to grab their on-the-spot sketches of Aporia.

Next to their booth is the Indie Tiangge booths where a lot of talented students, artist, and particupants showcases all their creative juices on their self published artworks! This really makes the event really interesting because it gives a lot of talented pinoys cater their stuffs on this booth =P

Had the chance to meet Mr. Gio Paredes:icongioparedes: creator of Kalayaan ( grabbed all the five issues and still craving for the shirt! =) and the other BK creators as well.

Next is the Point Zero booth:iconpointzerocomics:, headed ofcouse by my idol Taga-Ilog:icontagailog: with his bucket that I think last seen on C3Con wayback 07? Together with Joanah Tinio:iconika-siyam: his loving wife, creator of Cresci Propecies. Had the chance to grab the compilation of Sanduguan compilation of three first chapters created by Jon Zamar:iconjonzam: and the my ever favorite fried fighting food force- Kubori Kikiam, with Tiga-Kanal ( Micheal David ):iconkanal: selling the latest s#!t "Kubori Kikiam Food for the Soul! =P

The stage caters different gimicks and contest but I dont ever bither cuz I'm busy pictue taking, buying comics and oogle booths after booths. It event also caters gallery of some great local comic artist like RENATO ALCALA among others.

I also had chance having my Kulas book signed by Mr. Freely Abrigo:iconfreetoons: Manix Abrera, creator of KIKO macjine came late but its worthwhile having my Kiko copies signed by Manix. Yehey! Rak en Roll =P

The fun and the fans never stopped applauding with the CCCOM REUNION! Rollcall: Taga-Ilog:icontagailog:, JonZam!:iconjonzam:, Tiga-Kanal:iconkanal:, the Otaku Tourist, Evil Groobs:icongealachamhran:, J.I.O:iconjio:( at last he showed up from the shell aftes C3C0N! ) but theres is missing... Da Bhoss showed up a lil bit late for the open discussion for thefans BUT THERE IS STILL MISSING PIECE OF THE JIGSAW! That I.Q. 40:iconiq40:! Crap! the Reunion is "not" Really complete without this folk which, I admit , most the fans are waiting for amd makes the Komikon event meaningful.

Other artist that I meet are like Julius Villanueva :iconzekemachine: of Life in Progress, Lyndon Gregorio :iconbeerkada: of Beerkada, Budjette Tan :iconbudjette: and Kajo creators of Trese, Greco:iconaha-hule: creator of Aha-Hule! Wilson Tortosa:iconbatangbatugan: whose signed my CCCOm copy issue 15, Harvey Tolibao:iconharveytolibao:, Renie Palo:iconrapidblade: Lui Antonio :iconstompboxxx:, Carlo Vergara creator of Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, and all among others.

I missed meeting Arnold Arre, damn! I bring all of his books! including the much awaited "The Martial Law Babies!", my olg good friend Stephen Segovia:iconsjsegovia: bring his works Wolverine: Manifest Destiny where he is the artist.

Well, that is a wrap up. Wish I could still go to the future Komikon events to meet all the other arising and old artist that I missed meeting up. Looking More comics to grab and soon to participate my own work on Comic Tiangge booth. (if i'm not busy)

Happy Holidays! Mery Christmas and Happy New Year folks! =P
